Harry, who served in the Southwest Pacific and the Philippines as an MIS Linguist soldier, also served in the occupation of Japan performing various intelligence assignments. Harry retired as a colonel in 1990, receiving the 3rd Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbons and the President's Award for Distinguished Federal Civilian Service. He is currently Chairman of the Board of the National Japanese American Historical Society in San Francisco and Director of the Kansha (Gratitude) Project, which seeks to find individuals who had shown compassion towards the Japanese Americans during World War II.
